“I’ve Made My Decision. I Want To Come.”

Those were the first words A spoke to us today.

Today we went to meet A again at the sanatorium. On the way over we discussed with Oksana the plan for the day. We thought we would ask A on Monday if she wanted to be adopted by us. Oksana thought we should ask her today so we could start the paperwork on Monday. When we arrived at the sanatorium, it was naptime, which is from 2:00-4:00. The caregiver who let us in was not happy we were showing up at naptime, but Oksana explained that the administrator said we could come at any time. We went to the same small room with a table and two benches. After a few minutes A walks in and gives Jim and I a hug. We sit down, and she says through Oksana, “I’ve made my decision. I want to come.” Of course, we are ecstatic and surprised that these are the first words out of her mouth. We stay and visit for another hour and a half. She seems to still be a little apprehensive, and who can blame her. She just made a monumental decision for her life. She is a very brave young lady. We talk about names, and we will let you know the name she chose when we have our court date. Praise God, it looks like we will be bringing at least one child home with us! We still have a lot of paperwork to go for her, but now we can begin the process.

Jim posted some pictures of the sanatorium where we met our new daughter. You enter one large building. Then you exit out the back of it and walk across a long courtyard/play area. Part of it has raw sewage in it-now that will help restore your health! Then there is another large building.

We meet with A in the small room to the left of the front doors.

Below you can see A walking through the courtyard in the purple jacket next to Oksana.

BOh wow! It's really happening. I'm all emotional for you again.

Plus you're lucky to be in such a warm place. I see it's 25 degrees for you there and it's 2 degrees here right now at 1:45 PM.

I wonder if you'll be able to sleep tonight? Wow.

Wow, what a huge step for this young lady! The fact that she uttered it first thing should let you know just how much she realizes the import of it. Congratulations,Jeri

Kari and Jim,

We are so happy that "A" has made her decision and that she will be joining your family. From the tiny photo it looks as if she may have long brown hair like Kari! We are so happy that you will be coming home with at least one new family member!

Her life will only get better from here on out!

We are so thankful that you have all received a wonderful answer to your prayers!

It is going to be a cold week here. We visited the Frederick campus of RMCC for the Christmas program this afternoon and on the way home, after dinner, it was reading -13'F outside.

I was stunned when I read Jim and Teresa's blog last night. I haven't checked in yet tonight, but I am praying that they make an appointment for a 2nd referral. What a blow!

Enjoy your time with "A" and keep us posted on the boys!

In our thoughts,
The Barretts
